Rain forces White Sox-Reds doubleheader Saturday

CHICAGO -- Rain postponed Friday’s interleague game between the Chicago White Sox and Cincinnati Reds, with both teams now scheduled to play a traditional doubleheader Saturday at U.S. Cellular Field.

The first game Saturday will begin at 3:10 p.m. CT, with the second game beginning 30 minutes after the first game, but no earlier than 6:10 p.m. CT.

The White Sox will use Friday’s scheduled starter Hector Noesi in the first game, while rookie Carlos Rodon pitches the second game, the first start of his major league career. The Reds will push Friday’s starter Jason Marquis to the second game, while veteran Johnny Cueto will start the first game.

It is the fourth postponed game already for the White Sox this season. They now have had two rain outs, as well as the two games that were postponed at Baltimore on April 27-28 because of civil unrest in the city.

In addition to Saturday’s doubleheader, the White Sox also have doubleheaders scheduled for May 28 at Baltimore and July 17 at home against the Kansas City Royals.
