CHICAGO -- A large cardboard moving box, filled to the brim like a pint of freshly poured Guinness, sat between the Chicago White Sox lockers of Adam Dunn and Jake Peavy. On top of the pile was a book.

"This yours?" I asked Dunn a couple of days ago, sort of half kidding.

CHICAGO -- The first clue that Monday night's game was Ozzie Guillen's last as Chicago White Sox manager came hours earlier.

Sitting on a padded bench in the home dugout of U.S. Cellular Field, Guillen was asked about his Monday meeting with team chairman Jerry Reinsdorf.

"You met with Jerry today?"

"Yes," said Guillen.

"Will you be managing here next year?"

"That's none of your business."

Figures. Another critic.

"That's what I want to hear,'' said Guillen, smiling, as he recounted the story in his clubhouse office before Sunday's game. "We just move in!''

Get used to it, Ozzie. This is what happens when the AL Central favorite spends the first month of the season in the Jiffy John. The White Sox won seven of their first 11 games, but only three of their next 17. Those 18 April defeats are a franchise record.
