VANCOUVER, B.C. -- Monday will be the first chance for Andrew Ladd to react publicly to Vancouver’s Ryan Kesler calling him a coward after the Canucks beat the Hawks 5-1 on Saturday.
Ladd and Kesler had a brief fight, and Kesler still was mad about it afterward.
“He’s a coward, he’ll always be a coward,” Kesler told the Vancouver Sun. “At least he was man enough to hit me when I was looking this time. He cross-checked me in the face [last year] and broke my nose when I wasn’t looking.”
Kesler is referring to an incident in last year’s playoffs. On Sunday, he was asked again about Ladd and insulted him even with a no comment.
“We’re not talking about -- I don’t even know his name -- that guy anymore,” Kesler said.
The Hawks had the day off on Sunday and will practice in Vancouver on Monday before moving on to Edmonton to take on the Oilers on Tuesday.
The Hawks and Canucks will meet one more time this season, on March 5 at the United Center.
