The Chicago Blackhawks trail the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 after the first period at the United Center.

Very little defense was played in the opening 20 minutes as the teams combined for 27 shots. The Oilers broke open a 1-1 tied with three goals in the span 1:09 to take a 4-1 lead before Patrick Kane tallied with just 11 seconds remaining in the period.

Marty Turco gave up all four goals on 12 shots. The final Oilers goal was aided by a clearing pass that hit referee Stephane Auger and stayed in the Hawks zone.

Patrick Sharp has two assists, getting one on a Jonathan Toews power play goal earlier in the period and another on the Kane goal. Taylor Hall, the number one pick in this past summer’s draft scored his second goal in as many nights and had an assist in the period as well.
