LOS ANGELES -- The Chicago Blackhawks lead the Los Angeles Kings 1-0 after two periods at the Staples Center.

The Hawks scored the lone goal of the game midway through the middle 20 minutes after two stellar defensive plays led to a two-on-one break that Patrick Sharp finished for his 15th goal of the year.

First, Duncan Keith intercepted a pass attempt in the slot by poke-checking it away as he went down to the ice. The puck went up near the blue line where a Kings player was ready to walk into a big slapshot, but at the last moment, Patrick Kane tied up the player and the puck came out to the neutral zone. Kane and Sharp played give and go down the ice before Sharp finished the great sequence.

The Hawks gave up just three shots on goal in the second period.
