First period recap: Hawks 1, Wild 0

The Chicago Blackhawks lead the Minnesota Wild 1-0 after one period at the United Center.

The Hawks second power play unit has been coming through lately and it did again in the opening 20 minutes. After some nice passing, Brian Campbell fired one home from the point through several screens. It was Campbell’s first goal since Dec. 30, 2010.

The Hawks, thanks to Corey Crawford in net, survived the first 8-9 minutes as Crawford made no less than six big saves, including several on a Wild power play. It was one of Crawford’s better sequences of the season and better periods. He stopped 17 in all. The Hawks also killed off a second Wild power play.
