Kane: Illness only reason for missing time

Patrick Kane said he was indeed sick earlier this week when he missed two days of practice.

After Friday's 4-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets at the United Center, Kane addressed the subject of pictures of himself that were posted on the internet, which were allegedly taken at a bar last Sunday night.

Kane missed practice on Monday and Tuesday due to the flu, which has affected several players.

“I guess that’s the kind of reputation I have around here where you’re sick for two days and people think you’re doing that stuff," Kane said. “You get two days off and you’re sick, people are going to make up things. I don’t know where the pictures came from, if they’re from the summer or what.

“I’m here to play hockey, that’s what I love doing, especially at this time of year. I’m focused in on what this team needs to do and what I have to do.”

Kane heard about the pictures earlier in the day on Friday.

“I got a text from my buddy and your heart kind of drops especially when you’re sick,” he said.
