First period wrap: Canucks 1, Hawks 0

VANCOUVER -- The Chicago Blackhawks trail the Vancouver Canucks 1-0 after the first period at Rogers Arena.

The Canucks came out flying and it paid off when Ryan Kesler beat Duncan Keith and then centered a puck to Alexander Burrows who buried it for the lone goal of the game.

The Hawks picked up the pace in the latter half of the period, peppering Roberto Lungo with 12 shots. Luongo made several big saves, including a right pad one on Jonathan Toews in close.

Vancouver had eight shots on net and the lone power play of the first period. The Hawks killed it off with minimal good scoring chances from Vancouver.
