CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks and Vancouver Canucks are tied 1-1 after the first period at the United Center on Sunday night.

The Canucks struck first after Brent Seabrook was called for interference early in the game. Late in the ensuing power play, David Booth was parked in front of the net with a step on Dave Bolland and scored after receiving a pass from Kevin Bieksa.

The Hawks tied the game on a soft goal given up by Roberto Luongo when Michael Frolik threw an easy one on net which got through the Canucks goalie. Niklas Hjalmarsson earned his first point of the season on the play. Luongo was mocked loudly by the crowd for several minutes after the bad goal.

Corey Crawford made stops on two breakaways, facing 17 shots total in the period. The Hawks had nine. Patrick Kane was called for a late roughing call, giving the Canucks a power play to open the second period.
