2nd-period wrap: Blackhawks 3, Sharks 2

The Chicago Blackhawks led the San Jose Sharks 3-2 after two periods at the United Center on Sunday.

The Hawks reclaimed the lead after allowing San Jose to tie it early in the period on scores by Joe Pavelski and Jamie McGinn. Jonathan Toews scored his 24th goal of the season midway through the period after a great hustle play by Viktor Stalberg, who’s having a tremendous game.

Pavelski tipped home a point shot just 1:42 into the middle 20 minutes and then 26 seconds later McGinn spun towards Corey Crawford as he shot the puck and it snuck by for the tying goal.

Toews’ score came after Stalberg retrieved a dump-in and found Patrick Kane, who centered to Toews.

Stalberg and Dave Bolland have the other Hawks goals, scored 1:38 apart late in the first period. Toews’ line has been the best on the ice for either team.
