CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks lead the Florida Panthers 3-0 after two period at the United Center.

The Hawks extended their 2-0 first intermission lead when Patrick Kane broke out of a mini-slump with his 11th goal of the year on a 2-on-1 sequence with Viktor Stalberg. Kane faked a pass then shot one by Jose Theodore for the tally.

The Hawks almost had another score when Andrew Brunette knocked in a rebound out of mid-air but the referees deemed his stick was above the cross-bar. The play was reviewed and the call was upheld.

Ray Emery has had a fairly easy first 40 minutes having only to make a couple of tough saves so far.
