VANCOUVER -- The Chicago Blackhawks and Vancouver Canucks are tied 1-1 after the first period at Rogers Arena.

Vancouver struck first after some sustained pressure in the Hawks zone led to a Ryan Kesler goal. The Hawks were unable to clear the puck resulting in the offensive chance and goal.

A few minutes later Jamal Mayers tied the game after pressure from the Hawks led to a chance as Brent Seabrook and Steve Montador kept the play alive from the point. They were both credited with an assist on the goal-mouth score from Mayers. It was his first goal since December 14.

As always between the two teams there was a good pace to the game in the opening 20 minutes.
