CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks trail the new York Rangers 1-0 after the first period at the United Center.

The Rangers scored with less than a minute to go in the period when Viktor Stalberg and Patrick Kane helped turn over a puck in their own zone. Artem Anisimov scored for New York.

Both goalies were on their game in the opening 20 minutes as the teams exchanged some high quality chances. Ray Emery’s best save came on Marian Gaborik as he looked to have a tap in goal after a goal-mouth pass found him in the crease. But Emery went post to post to make the stop.

Henrik Lundqvist made several nice stops including one on Marian Hossa in the opening seconds of the game. The Hawks were outshot 6-0 in the closing minutes of the period and trail 1-0.
