Comcast SportsNet drew its largest television rating ever for a Chicago Blackhawks’ regular-season game during the team’s home opener against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, the station announced on Wednesday.

Comcast SportsNet received a 5.40 household rating and was seen in approximately 188,179 households, according to Nielsen Media Research. The telecast posted a 6.28 peak rating during the 10 p.m. hour and was then seen in about 218,845 households.

The previous regular-season record was a 4.35 rating for the Blackhawks’ game against the Vancouver Canucks on March 5, 2010.

Comcast SportsNet has averaged a 4.26 household rating during its first two broadcasts this season. The rating is an increase of 75 percent from the station's first two broadcasts last season.

The Blackhawks improved to 3-0 Tuesday for the first since the 1972-1973 season. They announced a crowd of 21,455 for Tuesday’s home opener.

The Hawks will face the Dallas Stars on the road on Thursday.
