GLENDALE -- Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Ray Emery will start against the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday night as the Hawks try to continue a point streak to begin the season.

"Ray is coming off a tremendous game," coach Joel Quenneville told the Blackhawks team website Thursday morning. "He played here last time and we won. I think he deserves a chance to get back in there. His performance the other night made it easier to play him tonight."

Emery is coming off a 45-save game on Saturday against the Calgary Flames in which he also stopped all three shooters in the shootout which the Hawks won 3-2.

He was also the winner in a 6-4 victory over Phoenix on Jan. 20 in Glendale.

The Hawks were eliminated from the playoffs last season by the Coyotes but Corey Crawford played in all six games, five of which went to overtime.

The Hawks are 8-0-2 on the season and remain the lone NHL team to have earned a point in every game played.
