CHICAGO -- Here’s a quick look at Anaheim Ducks' 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks in a shootout at the United Center on Tuesday.
How it happened: The Ducks outscored the Hawks 2-1 in the shootout on goals by Nick Bonino and Corey Perry. Ducks goaltender Viktor Fasth made three shootout saves. The Ducks were trailing 2-1 in the third period, but Andrew Cogliano tied the game with 2:40 left. The Ducks killed off two penalties in overtime. Blackhawks rookie Brandon Saad scored a goal worthy of SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays in the second period. With both feet off the ground and his body parallel to the ice, Saad delivered a shot which deflected off Fasth and trickled into the net. It was Saad’s second career goal. Nick Leddy scored the Blackhawks’ other goal on a power play in the second period.
Player of the game: Fasth made 29 saves and stopped two of the three shootout shots.
What it means: The Blackhawks fell in the shootout, but their points streak remained alive. They have still yet to not register a point in a game this season. The Blackhawks are 10-0-3 and lead the NHL with 23 points.
What’s next: The Blackhawks continue their seven-game home stand with the San Jose Sharks on Friday.
