CHICAGO -- Chicago Blackhawks center Rostislav Olesz was placed on waivers Wednesday, coach Joel Quenneville confirmed.

Olesz hasn't played since last season due to a lower-body injury. He played six games for the Blackhawks and 50 games for the AHL's Rockford IceHogs last season.

Olesz is being paid $3.125 million this season and will be paid the same next season before becoming an unrestricted free agent.

"We'll see what happens," Quenneville said Wednesday of whether Olesz would be headed to Rockford. "He's on waivers right now, so we'll talk about it after the process."

Make-A-Wish: The Blackhawks tried out a new goalie at the end of Wednesday's practice, and 13-year-old Jarrett Hill drew rave reviews.

In partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Blackhawks granted Hill's wish of skating with the team and meeting goaltender Corey Crawford following practice at Johnny's IceHouse West.

Hill, who is from Kirkland, Ill., recently decided he wanted to be a goaltender and suited up. He took the ice after the team's practice, was placed in front of net and a number of the Blackhawks, including Jonathan Toews, took turns taking soft shots at him. Hill caught or deflected most of them.

Hill received the full NHL experience. After spending time on the ice, Hill entered the team's dressing room and was given his own spot, which normally belonged to goaltender Ray Emery. Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith sat beside Hill and interacted with him.

Toews was glad to share in the experience for Hill.

"It's always cool," Toews said. "It's the end of the practice; you're used to getting off the ice and getting ready to hop on the plane, but to take an extra minute to shoot pucks on a little goaltender like that I think it means a lot to him. It's a good little goaltender, so it's pretty cool."
