The Chicago Blackhawks held on to the top spot in ESPN's NHL Power Rankings for a seventh consecutive week Monday despite a strong push by the Eastern Conference's top team, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun wrote he was torn between the Blackhawks and Penguins for No. 1.

"I was mighty tempted to put Pittsburgh first in our rankings, but I just can't demote a Chicago team that has only three regulation losses on the season," LeBrun wrote. "Three! Still, the Pens are charging mighty hard."

The Penguins are on a 12-game winning streak and lead the Eastern Conference with a 25-8-0 record and 50 points.

The Blackhawks are 24-3-3 with an NHL-best 51 points.
