Chicago Blackhawks forward Brandon Saad was announced Monday as one of three finalists for the Calder Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the NHL's top rookie.

Saad joined Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher and Florida Panthers forward Jonathan Huberdeau as finalists.

The 20-year-old Saad had 10 goals, 17 assists and a plus-17 rating in 46 regular-season games for the Blackhawks. He was a healthy scratch in the Blackhawks' season opener, but was moved to the top line beside Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa after an injury to Daniel Carcillo in the season opener and has remained there the rest of the season.

Saad began the season slowly and had zero points through his first eight games. He notched his first NHL goal on Feb. 5. He picked up his offensive pace in March and recorded three goals and 12 assists in the month. He also had four goals and four assists in April. He finished the regular season fifth among rookies in points.

All of the season's award winners will be announced during the Stanley Cup finals.
