Clarence S. Campbell Bowl Jonathan Daniel/Getty ImagesIt's become a tradition not to touch conference trophies, and the Hawks followed suit Saturday.

Call it superstition or just tradition, but no member of the Chicago Blackhawks touched the Clarence Campbell Bowl on Saturday night after earning the award for winning the Western Conference finals against the Los Angeles Kings.

The 2010 Hawks also refused to touch the bowl, and those who believe in superstitions might believe that's why that Chicago team went on to win their first Stanley Cup in 49 years.

Picture with the trophy? Yes. Touching the trophy? No.

And it's not just the Hawks. Since 2001, teams that have touched their conference trophy are 4-5 in the Stanley Cup finals. Neither the Kings nor the New Jersey Devils touched the conference trophies last postseason.
