Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw is feeling better after suffering a recent upper-body injury, Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman said Friday.

“He’s doing much better,” Bowman said in a phone interview on Friday. “It’s a not a long-term thing.”

Shaw was injured when he was hit hard into the boards during the third period of Tuesday’s game against the Dallas Stars. He did not play against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.

Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Thursday he was unsure whether Shaw would be able to play against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.

Shaw has eight goals and nine assists in 29 games this season.
