Prospect watch: Teravainen, Hayes rolling

Here's a look at how some of the Chicago Blackhawks' prospects are doing throughout the world:

Teuvo Teravainen, forward, Jokerit (Finland), drafted first round in 2012: The 19-year-old Teravainen is on an absolute tear since he returned from the World Junior Championship earlier this month. He has two goals and nine assists over the past five games. He had a goal and an assist in Jokerit's last game, a 5-1 win over KalPa Kuopio on Tuesday. With the added 11 points, he now leads Jokerit with 28 points in 34 games. That's despite missing 11 games this season.

Kevin Hayes, forward, Boston College (NCAA), drafted first round in 2010: The 21-year-old Hayes, a senior, continues to light it up. He's on an 11-game points streak dating back to No. 29. He has 11 goals and 14 assists during that span. He had two assists in a 6-4 win over Boston University on Jan. 17, three goals and two assists in a 7-2 win over Maine on Jan. 18, and a goal in a 4-1 win over Merrimack on Tuesday. Boston College improved to 16-4-3 with the three wins and is now ranked second in the USCHO.com poll.

Brandon Pirri, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), drafted second round in 2009: The 22-year-old Pirri could return to the IceHogs' lineup this weekend after missing nearly three weeks with a lower-body injury. He hasn't played since Dec. 30. He's officially considered day-to-day.

Joakim Nordstrom, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), drafted third round in 2010: The 21-year-old Nordstrom scored his fifth goal of the month in the IceHogs' 3-2 loss to the Toronto Marlies on Monday. He has five goals and five assists in January. He's tied for second on the team with 24 points and leads the team with a plus-nine rating.

Jeremy Morin, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), acquired via trade in 2010: The 22-year-old Morin continues to create chances. He has 38 shots on goal in nine games in January. He had an assist in the IceHogs' loss to the Marlies on Monday. He has three goals and five assists for the month.

Vince Hinostroza, forward, Notre Dame (NCAA), drafted sixth round in 2012: The 19-year-old Hinostroza, a freshman, had three assists in the Fighting Irish's 6-3 win over Lake Superior State on Jan. 17. He's tied with two others for second on the team with 20 points. He has five goals and 15 assists in 20 games.

Michael Paliotta, defenseman, Vermont (NCAA), drafted third round in 2011: The 20-year-old Paliotta, a junior, tallied three assists in two games against Northeastern last weekend. He had one assist in a 3-2 loss on Jan. 17 and two assists in a 4-1 win on Jan. 18. He has three goals, 14 assists and 31 blocks in 23 games this season.

Stephen Johns, defenseman, Notre Dame (NCAA), drafted second round in 2010: The 21-year-old Johns, a senior, had an assist and two blocks in each of Notre Dame's wins over Lake Superior State last weekend. He leads the team with 38 blocks. He also has four goals, eight assists and a plus-three rating in 23 games.

Matt Tomkins, goaltender, Ohio State (NCAA), drafted seventh round in 2012: The 19-year-old Tomkins, a freshman, stopped 26-of-27 shots in a 1-0 loss to top-ranked Minnesota on Jan. 17. He's 6-4-1 with a 2.45 goals-against average and .919 save percentage this season.

John Hayden, forward, Yale (NCAA), drafted third round in 2013: The 18-year-old Hayden, a freshman, had four points in two games last weekend. He had an assist in a 3-2 loss to Clarkson on Jan. 17 and two goals and an assist in a 4-2 win over St. Lawrence on Jan. 18. He has three goals and five assists in 17 games this season.
