The Chicago Blackhawks announced Thursday that they will play the Edmonton Oilers in a preseason game in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on Sept. 28.

The Blackhawks and Oilers previously played in Saskatoon -- about 320 miles from the Oilers' home ice in the neighboring province of Alberta -- in 2011. The Oilers won that game 4-2 before a capacity crowd.

“The Chicago Blackhawks are excited about the opportunity to returning to Saskatoon -- one of Canada’s true hockey communities,” Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman said in a statement.

The Blackhawks will release their entire 2014 preseason schedule at a later date.
