DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Chicago Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich (strained groin) went through practice for the second consecutive day Tuesday and is expected to start in the regular season opener against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

"Hinrich practiced," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said after Tuesday's practice. "He's doing better. He's fine."

Hinrich, who strained his right groin in a preseason game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 23, has steadily improved, according to Thibodeau.

"As long as there's no problems," Thibodeau said of Hinrich's playing status. "He went through two full practices and didn't have any problems, so he should be fine."

Hinrich, who signed in the summer, also missed a game earlier in the preseason because of a thumb injury. He has missed 28 games in the past two seasons because of various injuries.

He is expected to be in the starting lineup along with Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer and Richard Hamilton.
