CHICAGO -- Let's take a quick look at how the Chicago Bulls cruised to an easy 96-81 preseason win over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night at the United Center.

How it happened: Derrick Rose looks like he is ready to roll. After sitting out last Saturday's game in Rio de Janeiro because of knee soreness, Rose returned with a flourish in this tilt. The former MVP, playing in just his third game in almost a year and a half, scored 22 points in 22 minutes and displayed no fear driving to the rim and converting. Rose looked as confident as ever and even improved on his free throw shooting -- an aspect of his game that has looked rusty over the first couple weeks of training camp. Rose was 9-of-10 from the line and added two rebounds, two assists and a turnover.

What it means: This was as complete a game as the Bulls have had in the preseason. Aside from the fact that Rose looked great, the Bulls also got solid contributions from Carlos Boozer (10 points, 11 rebounds) and a host of others, including Joakim Noah. Noah looked rusty in his first preseason game of the year, but he did pull down eight rebounds in 20 minutes.

Hits: Tony Snell played well, scoring 10 points in almost 13 minutes in the first half. It was as confident a stretch as Snell has had in his short pro career. He finished with 12 points and four assists on the night.

Misses: As a team the Bulls were just 23-of-34 from the free throw line.

Stat of the night: The Bulls outscored the Pistons 34-16 in the paint.

What's next: The Bulls square off against the Indiana Pacers on Friday night at the United Center.
