Illinois senior kicker Derek Dimke and freshman running back Donovonn Young earned Big Ten honors Monday for their play against Western Michigan.
Dimke was named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week. He was 3-for-3 on field goals and made them from distances of 21, 35 and 39 yards. His final one, a 21-yarder, proved to be the difference in the 23-20 win over Western Michigan.
Young was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week. He rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. He had a 59-yard run and a 14-yard touchdown run.
