Northwestern senior forward John Shurna was named to the Wooden Award watch list on Monday.
Shurna averaged 16.6 points and 4.9 rebounds last season while helping the Wildcats to the NIT quarterfinals. He averaged 24.4 points and shot 62.5 from 3-point range in Northwestern's first nine games before injuring his ankle. The injury bothered him most of the season.
Shurna enters this year 523 points shy of tying the school's career-scoring record of 1,900 points, which is held by Billy McKinney.
Shurna was also among the 50 players named to watch list last season.
