Bengals' Newman out second straight day

CINCINNATI -- After dealing with injury issues the first five weeks of the season, the Cincinnati Bengals are in the middle of their second straight week of near complete health.

Cornerback Terence Newman was the only absence from their walkthrough Thursday, extending his number of consecutive missed practices to two. He was one of three Bengals who were completely held out of Wednesday's practice. That was the only workout this week that defensive tackle Devon Still and running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis missed, though. Both returned Thursday.

According to Cincinnati's injury report, Newman has an abdomen injury. He missed part of last Sunday's game at Buffalo with an injury before returning late in the fourth quarter of the 27-24 overtime win.

If Newman ends up having to miss this weekend's contest at Detroit, he likely would be replaced by Adam Jones, who started two games in relief of fellow cornerback Leon Hall earlier this season.
