Since the Bengals are playing at Miami on Thursday, the one-week exemption expires Friday. They have until then in order to move him to the 53-man roster.
Evans was suspended without pay on Aug. 30 for the first eight games of the season for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances. It was the second time he had to be disciplined by the league. In 2011, he served a four-game suspension while on the Bengals' practice squad. Before the suspension was implemented, he had four tackles in preseason games.
An undrafted player out of Kentucky, Evans has spent the past three seasons in Cincinnati.
He participated in Monday's walkthrough.
