CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Bengals trimmed their roster by one Wednesday, waiving undrafted free agent running back Jeff Scott.

With Scott's release, the Bengals are down to 89 players. They wrapped up organized team activities on Tuesday.

It has been expected that the Bengals were going to make a cut or two at running back between now and the close of training camp, as they had seven (not including the fullbacks and H-backs) on the roster during this spring's practices. Veteran BenJarvus Green-Ellis has been among those most expected to get cut as Cincinnati begins turning over more duties to second-year back Giovani Bernard, and starts grooming rookie Jeremy Hill.

Noted for his speed, Scott was a post-draft addition who spent his college career at Ole Miss. In addition to playing in the backfield, he had worked out on special teams as a punt and kick returner.

According to ESPN Stats & Information, Scott's release gives the Bengals a cap savings of $418,666. The only guaranteed money Scott received when he signed May 13 was a $2,000 signing bonus.
