A weekly examination of the Browns' ESPN.com Power Ranking:
Preseason: 28 | Last Week: 27 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002
What does it take for a team to drop into the bottom three of the NFL Power Rankings?
Losing six in a row hasn’t done it for the Browns, nor has their sixth straight 11-loss season. A terrible loss at the New York Jets only dropped the Browns one spot, from 27 to 28.
Which is exactly where the Browns were ranked when the season started. So give the prognosticators credit.
The Browns have been ranked as low as 31 in the third week of the season, but they’ve stayed out of the 30s since -- even after loss after loss after loss.
The season finale is in Pittsburgh, where the Steelers have much to play for and the Browns have little -- except, perhaps, to ensure they finish somewhere in the 20s in the ESPN.com Power Rankings.
