Why Bridgewater didn't throw at the combine

By Pat McManamon

Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater did not throw at the scouting combine. He chose not to. Had he thrown there, he would not have received the scrutiny he's receiving now for a pro day when he struggled. Pro days are designed to make a quarterback look good; the combine is a little less structured.

Why didn't Bridgewater throw at the combine? Here's what he said in Indianapolis in February:
“The biggest thing was just me being a perfectionist, and I just want everything to go right. Whether I’m taking a five-step drop and the guy’s not on top of his route at the time, I just want to have that chemistry with the guys. I tend to look at it from a pro standpoint. When you’re throwing in the offseason, you want to be with your guys to have that timing and that connection, so that was the biggest thing.”
