You already know about the KFC Yum! Center, which is the now-official name of Louisville's new basketball arena. Sure, it's easy to poke fun at the name. Still, yesterday I wrote that if having your arena named something nominally silly means having the deliciously unhealthy food offerings from the associated naming rights holder available for purchase at various concessions stands within that arena, I'll take silly every day. Have you seen that Double Down sandwich? Yes, please.
Turns out, it was worth it. Check this out:
As part of the deal, the Louisville restaurant company will have seven concession areas for KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell inside the arena at Second and Main streets. Its logos will be inside and outside the building, even the roof.
The growing consensus, voiced here by Card Chronicle, is that Louisville's new arena should be nicknamed "The Bucket." I'm 100 percent in favor of this. Let's stamp it, Cardinals fans. Your new arena is known as The Bucket. Congratulations.
When I was in high school, my friend Paul used to go to a combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, order a small personal pan pizza and two hard shell tacos and be on his way. The fact that people like my friend can now go to Pizza Hut/Taco Bell, buy a personal pan pizza and two hard shell tacos and return to their seats in time to watch live college basketball is, well, I don't even know. It's almost too awesome for words. You rule, America. You really do.
