Mississippi State nears influx of star power

You've heard of Brangelina and TomKat? According to The Clarion-Ledger, Mississippi State forward Renardo Sidney has taken to Twitter to announce the impending arrival of the celebrity power couple set to take Jackson, Miss., by storm known as "DeeNardo."

Last night's exhibition against Bellhaven provided a stage for a glimpse of Sidney and Dee Bost playing together, with the two set to make their official debuts coming off NCAA-mandated suspensions.

Bost had 26 points and nine assists, and Sidney, battling fatigue, played only 15 minutes and scored 10 points. Sidney will finally play in a game that counts Saturday against Virginia Tech. Bost won't make his season debut until Jan. 8 for the SEC opener.

With Bost, the Bulldogs get their top assist man from last season back. With Sidney, it's the long-awaited arrival of a 6-foot-10, 270-pound highly regarded behemoth, who like many celebrities, has to watch his caloric intake if he is to perform optimally and does not lack for confidence.

"I don't think anybody in the nation or the world can guard me in the block," Sidney told The Clarion-Ledger before the exhibition. "Coach has done a great job teaching me the low-post moves and keeping me on the block. Occasionally I'm going to step out and shoot a little 3, but I think I'm too dominant on the block."

With Bost feeding Sidney in the post in the new year, DeeNardo should be at the very least an interesting storyline to follow, but will it be a winning combination?

Stay tuned.
