BYU's Jackson Emery raised some eyebrows when he said before the season that he believed his team could go undefeated, and after the Cougars lost to UCLA earlier this month, the senior guard was forced to recalibrate.

Now, Emery is thinking the team can still go undefeated for the rest of the season, as he told KSL-TV.
"When I said at the beginning of the year, 'I believe we can win every game,' I meant it. Not guaranteeing anything, just saying I see the guys we have, the schedule we have, and I believe we can win every game, and we didn't. But I still believe now that we could win every game from here on out.

"Whether we do that, we'll have to see. It depends on how hard we work."

Certainly Mountain West favorite San Diego State along with UNLV and New Mexico will have something to say about that once the conference season gets going next week, with BYU opening up on the road against the Rebels.

Emery's confidence is welcomed on a team that features Jimmer Fredette and needs other players to step up if the Cougars are to win games in the NCAA tournament this year.

No, they probably won't go undefeated from here on out, but what's Emery supposed to say? That he doesn't think BYU can do it?
