San Diego State fans are quite impressive

San Diego State coach Steve Fisher has repeated the story many times this season about how in the early days of his reign he would keep tickets in his pockets and offer them to people he would see on campus.

Now, the Aztecs are pretty much out of tickets to sell.

The team announced earlier this week that all general public tickets have been sold out for the remainder of the home schedule. Only student tickets remain available.

Consider that undefeated Aztecs played in front of a sellout crowd of 12,414 on New Years' Eve against Division III Occidental with school out of session. And the students to show up to games are passionate about their team.

So much so that after last night's win, Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds personally went up to them after the game and complimented them, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette.
"I told them, the reason they’re undefeated is because of those kids," Reynolds said. "It was a great atmosphere."

The sellout crowd was charged up from the time they started filing into the arena. Air Force played at a sold out Marriott Center at BYU a couple weeks ago, but that wasn't nearly as raucous as what it faced at the Viejas Center.

Reynolds said he has never gone into the crowd to personally address fans before. The fans thanked Reynolds, exchanged some handshakes with the coach, patted him on the back and then Reynolds went back to the visiting locker room.

As former Michigan coach Bill Frieder recently said: "I told Steve, 'I don't think we had a crowd this good at Michigan, did we?'"
