1. Xavier’s Tu Holloway had a legit chance to be the national player of the year. Holloway could be like Jameer Nelson or Kemba Walker by hitting late-game shots to propel his team. But Holloway’s post-game comments Saturday damaged his reputation and his candidacy will be damaged significantly by his behavior.
2. Last week was another reminder why home-and-home series are much better than the neutral-site events where crowds are usually sparse. The atmosphere last week in Lexington for North Carolina, Gainesville for Arizona, Bloomington for Kentucky and Lawrence for Ohio State, are what make non-conference games in December good viewing. Hopefully, coaches and the networks take notice of what matters most: competitive games in a packed house.
3. Indiana should be ranked due to its win against Kentucky on Saturday, somewhere in the No. 15 to 20 range. But Murray State better be in the No. 18 to 23 range after the Racers won at Memphis to remain undefeated. Murray State won the Great Alaska Shootout and has handled every hurdle so far this season. This is one of the best programs every season, no matter the coach, outside of the power six conferences.
