Gonzaga wins at Xavier (Saturday, 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2): I might regret this pick, but something seems amiss with Xavier, which recently fell out of the Top 25. And it’s not just the absence of Dez Wells or Mark Lyons for two games in Hawaii. The Musketeers have lost their edge a bit since the fight broke out in its Dec. 10 win against Cincinnati; Gonzaga’s visit is a crucial game to get it back. The Zags come into this New Year's Eve matchup with a renewed sense of self after a spirited win against Butler. They don’t seem to get rattled, and have shown they can play with composure in hostile environments. If Xavier doesn’t close out this game, then you can officially say the A-10 is wide open. A win against Gonzaga should usher in more calm heading into the New Year.
