If you missed it: Quirky stats of the night

A scan of the college basketball box scores each night guarantees all kinds of fun oddities. Here are a few we found from Wednesday night:

Colorado State 79, Denver 75

Denver shot 62.9 percent from the field (22-of-35) and made 25 free throws, but still lost to Colorado State. Teams that had shot at least 60 percent and made 25 free throws had won 91 straight games over the past six seasons entering Wednesday. The last team to lose despite shooting 60 percent from the field and making 25 free throws was Lehigh on Nov. 11, 2006, in a 94-90 loss to Portland State.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 50, UT-San Antonio 49

The Islanders won despite going just 0-for-1 from the free throw line as a team. They are the second team this season to win a game without making a free throw and the first team to win a game with zero or one free throw attempt. The last team to win a game with just one free throw attempt was Michigan against Tennessee in the 2011 NCAA tournament.

Rutgers 62, Pittsburgh 39

Pittsburgh shot just 12.5 percent (4-of-32) in the first half. It got slightly better in the second half, but the Panthers still finished the game at just 21.1 percent (12-of-57). It was the seventh-worst shooting percentage by any Division I team this season and THE worst among the big six conferences, somehow managing to even fall below Utah's performance in its 73-33 loss to Colorado.

Ole Miss 71, Arkansas 63

Ole Miss won without making a single 3-point field goal. The Rebels are the 12th team this season to do that.

Old Dominion 68, Delaware 66 (OT)

ODU played its fifth overtime game of the season, two more than any other Division I team.

Boston University 77, Maine 68

The Terriers shot 75 percent from 3 (12-of-16) and 65 percent from the free throw line (13-of-20). The 75 percent shooting from beyond the arc is the highest 3-point percentage for a team with at least 15 attempts since Ohio State made 14 of 15 treys (93.3) against Wisconsin on March 6, 2011.

Saint Joseph’s 80, Fordham 62

Ronald Roberts of St. Joe's was 1-of-10 from the free throw line, the second-lowest percentage for any player this season in a game with at least 10 attempts.
