Hello. How are you? Nice to see you. Good day.

Who else always screws up introductions? Feel free to raise your hand.

Usually, one of three things happens when I am introducing myself to someone. They say, "Hi, I'm Person X. Nice to meet you." I shake their hand and say, "hi." Then I forget to say my name, thus making me the weirdo who doesn't want to tell a stranger his name. Who am I, Jason Bourne? That's one.

Or there are the times when someone walks into your house to be greeted, and you forget to stand up and shake their hand. Really you just forget, but the other person probably thinks you can't be bothered, and you look like the grump who's unhappy strangers are entering his abode. That's two.

Or -- and this is the most common introduction issue I have, and there isn't a close second -- I shake someone's hand and say their name and then immediately forget it. Right away. Not a second after I unclasp their hand. I lose it forever. Meaning I might as well have not even met that person, because the next time I see them, there's no way I'm remembering who they are, and things are just going to be awkward. That's, what, three? I'm sure there are more.

My point is: There are lots of ways to screw this up. Fortunately, the written word's easier, so I'm just going to say hi. My name's Eamonn. I am a sports blogger. I'm here to blog about college basketball. I come in peace.

Before I washed up on these shores, you could find me in such films as "Lead Paint: Delicious But Deadly," and "Man Vs. Nature: The Road To Victory." I also did a bit of blogging about sports. For the past two years, I've been writing about college hoops for Yahoo! Sports, where I was the editor of The Dagger. At various times, I edited and wrote for SB Nation, wrote three pieces a day for NBC Chicago, blogged about Indiana basketball at Inside The Hall, wrote for Mouthpiece Sports Blog, worked as an editor and reporter at Cars.com, and wrote for a now-defunct general sports blog I launched with my friend Ryan in 2006, called We Are The Postmen. (I'm the dude on the right.)

As you can see, I like this sports blogging thing, and I think I'm going to do it for a little while longer. Which is why I'm so excited to be here. There is literally no job in the world better than this one -- writing about sports. Don't ever let anyone tell you differently. It's not even really a job. It's like a hobby, or an addiction, only they pay you for it. It's great.

But that's not even the best part. The best part is in creating something that others enjoy. It can be an unpredictable science, but a good sports blog will keep you coming back day after day for whip-smart commentary, enlightening discussion, and maybe a bad pun or two. It'll be a few days until we get our sea legs over here, but when we do, that's our plan.

Which is where you come in. This new hoops blog here is still in its infancy, but by the time we do get going, there's no reason not to expect it to be an authoritative, smart and, above all, enjoyable destination to read about college basketball just about 24 hours a day. You should expect nothing less, and your e-mails, comments, and vicious looks from across the lunchroom (Is someone making a burn book about me? Am I really still referencing "Mean Girls"?) can only help make that happen. So don't be shy. Oh, and if you have feedback, links, want to say hi, or whatever, you can also follow me on Twitter.

In the meantime, let's get right with some college hoops blogging. I know I'm ready. Give me a minute, though. Someone just walked in my house, and I want to make sure I remember to get up off the couch.

Sigh. This introduction thing never goes well.
