Purdue submits its own trick shot video

Mr. Norlander is right: The trick-shot video is long since played out.

Blame former Duke star Kyle Singler. Blame the airplane-shooting, fist-pumping, is-it-real-or-not specialists Dude Perfect. Blame the legion of college basketball players that have since submitted their own efforts. Whomever you choose to blame, the trick shot video is definitely old news. They make Carly Rae Jepsen dances (seriously, people, stop) seem downright hip by comparison.

But guess what? It's July 3. It's not exactly like we have a lot of basketball -- or even a lot of sports -- to celebrate right now. As soon as I got over the end of the NBA season and the draft, Euro 2012 mercilessly ended. What, you expect me to watch the Cubs?

So, yes, Purdue's D.J. Byrd and Dru Anthrop (and just-graduated guard Ryne Smith) are behind the curve with their trick shot video. But as long as it counts as college basketball players playing some form of the sport, I'm going to link it. It's really just that simple:



Not bad, right? Sure, it won't go down in the YouTube annals, but again: It's kind of, sort of college basketball in the summer. We have to take it when we can, you guys.
