Utah hopes to get healthy

Utah forward Jay Watkins is expected to miss Wednesday's game at Pepperdine with an abdominal strain, but the junior who averages 10 points per game is at least making the trip.

We know this because of a photo tweeted by Utes coach Jim Boylen that shows the big man Watkins on the team's plane playfully and discreetly putting the bunny ears on the head man himself.

The Utes, of course, could use some laughs considering they currently have the worst record in the Mountain West. Most recently, they lost by double digits to Illinois State as part of the MWC/MVC Challenge.

It would help if the junior college transfer Watkins could get healthy. He's missed five games with the injury.

Another low-post player expected to miss the Pepperdine game is shot-blocking machine David Foster, who is fourth in the nation in the category. A 7-foot-3 senior, Foster left the Illinois State game with a sprained ankle, but not before blocking four shots in 15 minutes.

At that height, Foster might have to reach down to pull off bunny ears of his own.
