This is Michigan’s first Elite Eight appearance since 1994. The Wolverines are looking to make the Final Four for the first time since 1993.
A victory would give Michigan its third 30-win season, its first since the 1992-93 season (31-5).
Florida is making its third consecutive Elite Eight appearance, the longest such active streak for any team. The Gators are trying to make the Final Four for the first time since 2007; their next win would give them 30 in a season for the first time since that year.
This will be the second meeting between the two in the NCAA tournament. No. 3 seed Michigan beat No. 6 seed Florida, 108-85, in the round of 32 in 1988.

Star watch: Trey Burke
Burke has not only hit Michigan’s biggest shot of the NCAA tournament, he has been the tourney’s best at setting others up for big shots.
Burke has created 55 points off of his assists in the tourney, the most of any player in the field.
Burke shares a common thread with Florida coach Billy Donovan. They are the last two players with a 20-point, 10-assist game in the Sweet 16.
