WSU's version of 'The Blind Side'

His biological mother couldn't care for her kids. He went through foster care. Then, a white adoptive mother and her family came into his life. He stunk at his sport at first, but things changed.

This is the story of Washington State redshirt freshman forward James Watson, who is featured today by Vince Grippi of The Spokesman-Review.

Watson also thinks his story sounds just like the one in "The Blind Side" after recently watching the movie with his adoptive mother.

“My mom, she started crying,” Watson told The Spokesman-Review. “Everything that woman tried to do for that football player, she did the same thing.”

Watson, who averages 6.5 minutes per game for the Cougars, has his own story to tell, of course.

His adoptive sister, Kayla, was killed in a 2005 car crash that changed his life, Grippi writes.
