West Virginia being watched closely

By Diamond Leung

The West Virginia student section will be videotaped by the university beginning with Monday's game against Villanova, a school official told The Daily Athenaeum.

The increased surveillance comes after fans threw debris onto the court during the Pitt game, leaving the university president apologetic and even the governor ashamed, according to the Charleston Daily Mail.

"I was so ashamed and so embarrassed for our state, and I felt so bad for the team and people from Pittsburgh to be subjected to that," Gov. Joe Manchin said. "That's not who we are. That's not who we are as a state."

...

State Sen. Corey Palumbo, a WVU graduate himself, weighed in, too. He called the incident with fans "disappointing."

"I'm not sure what they need to do," he said. "I think maybe they might need to put cameras on the students, instead of just threatening to kick them out if they catch them (throwing things). I think they've got to send a strong message."
