13,570 perfect brackets remain

By ESPN.com staff

There were just 13,570 perfect brackets remaining after the first day of the Round of 64. There are about 172,000 brackets with just one loss. (Also amusing are the eight brackets with no picks right today.)

The three biggest bracket busters Thursday were No. 11 seed Colorado (picked to win in just 23.1 percent of brackets), No. 8 seed Iowa State (32.4 percent) and No. 12 seed VCU (37.2 percent). A total of 2.9 percent of brackets had all three of these teams winning.

Of those three teams, users are most confident in VCU reaching the Sweet 16, picked in 12.2 percent of brackets, compared to just 3 percent for Colorado and 1.5 percent for Iowa State. A total of 2,589 brackets have all three of these teams in the Sweet 16.

President Obama went 14-2 on Thursday, missing Gonzaga and Colorado. He did pick VCU and Iowa State, two of the first day’s biggest bracket busters.
