4-star OL Johnson has four standing out

By Derek Tyson

SEFFNER, Fla. -- Four-star offensive lineman Roderick Johnson helped lead Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage to a 36-28 upset win over Seffner (Fla.) Armwood on Friday night. The 6-foot-6, 316-pound tackle prospect helped lead the way for Greg Bryant, the No. 2-ranked running back in the country.

Behind the blocking of Johnson, Bryant rushed for two touchdowns. Johnson said it was a big win, but he is already looking ahead to next week.

"I feel like we got a lot off of our chest for this season," he said, "but now we have to get ready for our next game. It's an honor to block for Greg because I know he's the best running back in the country."

After the big victory, Johnson was reluctant to talk recruiting, but the former Florida commit said he is closer to deciding where he’ll take his official visits.

"I'm going to take some visits but I'm not sure exactly where or when yet," Johnson said. "But right now I'm liking West Virginia, Auburn, Florida and Florida State and some other schools but I probably talk to those schools the most.”

Johnson said his relationship with the Florida coaching staff hasn't changed despite his decommitment from the Gators.

"I still talk to coach [Tim] Davis and coach [Will] Muschamp,” Johnson said. “Basically the whole coaching staff. I probably talk to them more than any other coaches and also coach [Robert] Gillespie from West Virginia.”

Johnson said he is unsure when he will make a decision, but the talented prospect says he knows what he's looking for when he makes a decision.

"Great academics first of all," he said, "but great leadership and just a successful program."
