During his Big 12 media days press conference, Bob Stoops announced that running back Dominique Whaley has been cleared to resume football activities. But later in the day, Stoops cautioned that it remains to be seen if Whaley can return to the same level he played at last season.
Whaley has been running with the team, even playing basketball with teammates. But the true test will come during the first week of full pads, Stoops said.
“The bottom line is, until we get out there and practice, we won’t know how that ankle is,” Stoops said. “Is he able to make the cuts he needs to make and those kind of things? He feels good, he’s working hard, it’s going well.
“But again, we’ve got to get out there.”
