One of the keys to Oklahoma’s summer was the further development of the quarterback-receiver relationship between senior signal-caller Landry Jones and true freshman wideout Trey Metoyer.
Getting Jones comfortable with Metoyer, the star of spring football, is critical for an OU offense which is looking for additional receiving options alongside Kenny Stills.
“I feel like we’ve built the chemistry a little bit,” Metoyer said. “As of right now, I feel like he trusts me and as a receiver, you want that. Like when its third down when you need a big play, you can always look my way.”
Adding another third down option could be a game-changer for Jones, who will be looking to improve on third downs in 2012 after completing 51.9 percent of his passes on third down, hitting 68 of 131 pass attempts for 940 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions in 2011.
