B1G high school performers

With the start of high school football this past weekend, there were plenty of big performances on the field. Big Ten recruiting writers Tom VanHaaren and Brad Bournival outline a few top performers from Big Ten commitments over the weekend.

Matt Domer: Domer helped his team to a 40-0 victory with 10 carries for 61 yards and one touchdown.
Malik Turner: Sacred Heart (Ill.) won 63-0 in a blowout, in part because of Turner’s three receptions that went for 165 yards and three touchdowns.

Nick Carovillano: The defensive end helped Cincinnati St. Xavier hold Indianapolis Ben Davis to a single touchdown in a 34-7 win.
Michael Barwick: The defensive tackle helped Cincinnati Summit Country Day shut out Falmouth (Ky.) Pendleton County 48-0.

Omar Truitt: The athlete and future Iowa cornerback helped St. John’s College (Washington, D.C.) shut out Potomac (Md.) Bullis in a 42-0 win.
C.J. Hilliard: The running back rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown in Cincinnati St. Xavier’s 34-7 win over Indianapolis Ben Davis.

Damien Harris: While only really playing in the first half, Harris had an astounding 266 yards on 12 carries in his second game of the season. He finished with five total touchdowns and had a 91-yard touchdown called back in the first quarter.
Wilton Speight: In a 42-0 victory, Speight threw for 340 yards passing, connecting on 15 of 19 attempts. He had three passing touchdown and one rushing TD on the day.

Michigan State
Vayante Copeland: The three-star running back had 20 carries for 111 yards on offense and two interceptions on defense to help his team in a 32-22 victory.
Chris Durkin: The talented quarterback threw for 199 yards and two TDs as his Youngstown (Ohio) Ursuline team won 27-24 over Walsh Jesuit.

Jeff Jones: In a 56-50 victory, Jones ran for 152 yards to go with 95 receiving yards and an 85-yard kick return.
Gaelin Elmore: The defender had nine tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks and one forced fumble in a 20-6 loss.

Monte Harrrison: The wideout had five receptions and 119 yards in the first half, finishing with two TDs. Harrison and Lee’s Summit (Mo.) went on to beat Staley 28-14.
Larenzo Stewart: At running back, Stewart had 16 carries, 65 yards and one touchdown as his team beat Langham Creek 34-31.

Dareian Watkins: Listed as an athlete for good reason, Watkins had 20 carries, 141 yards and two touchdowns rushing. He was also 6 of 19 passing for 118 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in a 40-12 win at Fairbanks.
Auston Anderson: With 15 carries, 164 yards and one touchdown, Anderson and his Plano (Texas) West team lost 24-8 at Marcus.

Ohio State
Stephen Collier: The Lee County (Ga.) Leesburg quarterback threw for 189 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 40 yards and two more scores in a 55-6 win over Dougherty.
Terry McLaurin: The Indianapolis Cathedral wide receiver had eight catches for 238 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-28 loss to Indianapolis Warren Central.

Penn State
De'Andre Thompkins: The athlete scored three touchdowns -- including one on a kick return -- to lead Swansboro (N.C.) to a 26-6 win over Ashley.
Noah Beh: The offensive tackle helped Scranton (Pa.) running back Jake McCarthy rush for 237 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-29 win over Hazleton Area.

David Blough: The Carrollton (Texas) Creekview quarterback threw for one touchdown and ran for another in a 38-7 win over Saginaw Chisholm Trail.
Gregory Phillips: The wide receiver hauled in five catches for 125 yards and scored three touchdowns in Lithonia (Ga.) Arabia Mountain’s 40-7 win over Clarkston.

Jaden Gault: The offensive tackle helped Monona (Wis.) Grove to 250 first-half yards -- 209 on the ground -- in a 56-7 win over Baraboo.
D.J. Gillins: The quarterback threw a 59-yard touchdown pass in Jacksonville (Fla.) Ribault’s 12-7 loss to Jacksonville North Coast.
